Dates

ACMHacks 2025 will take place from October 10-12, 2025. The event kicks off with an opening ceremony on October 10th, and all projects must be submitted by the end of the hacking period on October 12th.

Eligibility

ACMHacks 2025 is open to all undergraduate and graduate students from UCSC and other institutions. Participants of all skill levels are welcome, including beginners and first-time hackers. Teams can have  2-4 members, and all members must be registered for the event.

Project and Submission Requirements

  • All projects must be built during the hackathon.
  • Participants should submit a working prototype or demo and a link to their GitHub repository (or similar).
  • Projects are meant to be meaningful, but the theme is open-ended
  • Submissions must include a project description explaining the problem being solved and how the solution fits the theme.
  • Optional: Include any relevant documentation or technical details.

Prizes

Prizes will be awarded in several categories, including:

  • Overall Best Project
  • Beginner
  • AI/ML
  • Bioinformatics/Health
  • Environment/Community Impact

Each winning team will receive recognition, trophies, and prizes provided by our sponsors. Specific prize details will be announced during the event.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

Judges will evaluate projects based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation: Creativity and originality of the solution.
  • Technical Complexity: The level of difficulty and sophistication of the project.
  • Execution: How well the project was implemented and how functional it is.

Winners will be selected based on total scores across these criteria.
